Melio pricing has four self-serve plans: Go at $0, Core at $25 a month, Boost at $55 a month and Unlimited at $80 a month. Billed annually, Core is $20, Boost $44 and Unlimited $64 a month. Core and Boost add $10 a month for each additional user. Payment fees come on top: $0.50 per ACH payment once your free allotment is used, $1.50 per check and 2.9% for card payments.

Those figures come from Melio's own pricing page, checked on September 21, 2026. The plan price is rarely the whole bill, so below we work out what Melio actually costs for three typical US businesses, list every fee, and show where a different kind of tool makes more sense.

Every plan includes AI bill capture, a bills inbox and free AR invoicing. Approval workflows start on Core, with more routing options on the higher tiers, and auto-capture of advanced line items starts on Core. New accounts get a 90-day trial with unlimited free ACH payments and the premium automations, with no card required. When the trial ends, the account drops to Go unless you pick a paid plan.

Melio fees per payment

These apply on every plan. The only thing the plan changes is how many ACH payments are free each month.

Payment methodFee
ACH bank transfer, after free allotment$0.50 per payment
Paper check$1.50
Fast check$20
Overnight check$50
Same-day ACH or instant transfer1%, capped at $75
Wire$10
Same-day wire1%, minimum $10, maximum $75
Pay by credit or debit card2.9%, plus any delivery surcharge
Global payment by ACH in USD$20 flat

Two fees catch people out. The first is the card fee: paying a $4,000 supplier invoice by card costs $116, which is worth it for the float and rewards on some invoices but not as a habit. The second is speed. A vendor who calls about a late payment can turn a free ACH into a $20 fast check or a 1% same-day transfer, so a messy approval process shows up directly in your fees.

How much does Melio cost per month? Three worked examples

Here is the arithmetic for three businesses, using monthly billing unless noted. Your own mix of ACH, checks and card payments will move these numbers, so plug yours in.

A sole owner paying 15 vendors by ACH and 5 by check

On Go, 5 ACH payments are free and the other 10 cost $5. Five checks cost $7.50. Total: $12.50 a month. The catch is that Go has no accounting sync, so every bill still has to be entered in QuickBooks by hand. On Core, all 15 ACH payments are free, checks are still $7.50, and QuickBooks Online syncs. Total: $32.50 a month, or $27.50 billed annually. For most owners the $20 difference is cheaper than the typing.

A three-person AP team making 60 ACH payments and 10 checks

On Boost: $55 plus two additional users at $10 is $75. Ten ACH payments past the 50 free cost $5, and ten checks cost $15. Total: $95 a month. On Unlimited: $80 plus $15 in checks is also $95, but with unlimited ACH and unlimited users. Billed annually, Boost comes to $80 and Unlimited to $79. At this size the plans cost the same, so Unlimited wins on headroom, and it is the only plan with NetSuite sync.

A growing company with five users and 200 ACH payments

Core would be $25 plus four users at $10, plus 180 extra ACH payments at $0.50: $155 a month. Unlimited is $80 flat before checks and card fees. Once you pass roughly 50 payments and three users, Unlimited is almost always the cheaper plan.

Is Melio cheaper than Bill.com?

For most small teams, yes. BILL's published plans are $49, $65 and $89 per user per month, and its ACH fee is $0.59 against Melio's $0.50 after the free allotment. Three users on BILL Essentials cost $147 a month before fees, more than Melio Unlimited with every seat included. BILL earns its price with deeper approval policies, PO matching on its Corporate plan and a larger vendor network. Our Bill.com pricing breakdown has the full plan and fee list, and Melio vs Bill.com works out the monthly cost for teams of one to four users.

What Melio's price does not cover

Melio is priced as a payment tool, and it is a good one. Its bill capture exists to create a bill that you then pay through Melio. That leaves a few jobs outside what you are paying for:

  • Getting invoice data out as a file. If you need 800 invoices with line items in a spreadsheet for job costing, a price audit or a client's year-end, Melio is not built to export that.
  • Bills you do not pay through Melio. Invoices paid by your bank, your ERP or a company card still need capturing somewhere.
  • Accounting sync on Go. The free plan has none. If you stay on Go to save $25, your bills still have to reach QuickBooks another way. If the bank side is also a manual job, you can convert PDF bank statements into QuickBooks QBO files instead of keying transactions.
  • Receipts and other documents. Melio handles bills. Receipts, credit memos and vendor statements need another tool.

This is where an extraction tool fits next to Melio or in place of its capture step. PayablesAgent reads invoices, bills and receipts and returns vendor, invoice number, dates, tax, totals and line items as Excel, CSV, JSON or QuickBooks Online data. Plans start at $49 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, with 2,500 Base pages and 500 Pro pages included, line items on every plan and no per-user fee. It does not pay vendors, so many teams keep Melio on Go or Core for payments and run capture through PayablesAgent. The side-by-side view is on our Melio alternative comparison, and if QuickBooks is your ledger, see invoice OCR for QuickBooks.

Does Melio have a free plan?

Yes. Go costs $0 for one user with 5 free ACH payments a month, AI bill capture and free AR invoicing. It has no approval workflows and no QuickBooks or Xero sync, and every ACH payment after the fifth costs $0.50. It suits a sole owner paying a few vendors, not a team with a close process.

Is Melio worth the money?

For a US small business that mainly needs to pay vendors by ACH and check, Melio is one of the best value options available: Core at $25 covers 20 ACH payments and syncs with QuickBooks Online. It is less good value if your cost is really in data entry, if you have many users on Core or Boost, or if you pay a lot by card at 2.9%.

Can you cancel Melio anytime?

Melio's trial needs no card and falls back to the free Go plan when it ends, so nothing is charged unless you choose a paid plan. Annual billing buys the lower rate in exchange for a yearly commitment, so if you expect your payment volume or team size to change, stay on monthly billing until it settles, and check the cancellation terms in your account before you switch to annual.

How to keep your Melio bill down

  1. Pick the plan by payment count, not features. Count last month's ACH payments. Under 20, Core. Under 50 with one or two users, Boost. Anything above, or three or more users, price out Unlimited.
  2. Move check vendors to ACH. Each check costs $1.50, and ACH inside your allotment costs nothing. A one-line email asking for bank details pays back quickly.
  3. Approve earlier. Fast checks and same-day transfers are what a late approval costs. A weekly payment run with approvals done two days ahead avoids most of them.
  4. Use card payments on purpose. 2.9% is worth it when you need 30 days of float on a large invoice. It is not worth it on routine bills.
  5. Price the capture separately. If your team spends hours fixing captured bills or keying line items, test a dedicated extraction tool on 20 real invoices before paying for a higher Melio tier to fix it.

Melio pricing is transparent, which is rare in this category. Use the tables above to work out your real monthly number, and if data entry is the part that hurts, upload an invoice and see what comes back before you change anything else.
