ABBYY does not publish a price for FlexiCapture or FlexiCapture for Invoices. Every deal is quoted by ABBYY or a reseller, and the license is sold as an annual subscription sized by invoices per year (IPY) and pages per year (PPY). Reseller listings show tiers from 20,000 invoices a year (60,000 pages) for a standalone install up to 100,000 invoices a year (300,000 pages) for a distributed one, with extra volume packs above that.

So the honest answer to "how much does ABBYY FlexiCapture cost" is: you will not see a number until you talk to sales. What you can know before that call is how the license is built, what each tier includes, which costs sit outside the license, and what the same invoice volume costs on a tool with a published price. That is what this page covers, using ABBYY's own product pages and reseller SKU listings checked in October 2026.

How ABBYY FlexiCapture pricing works

FlexiCapture is ABBYY's long-running data capture platform. ABBYY still sells it, on premises, as an SDK, or deployed to the cloud, and markets it next to its newer Vantage platform. For accounts payable, ABBYY packages a turnkey edition called FlexiCapture for Invoices, which reads header fields, footer totals and line items.

The license is volume based. Instead of paying per user, you buy a yearly allowance of invoices, with a matching page allowance. Reseller listings describe the subscription as an annual fee that renews automatically after one year, with support, maintenance and upgrades included for the length of the subscription. The cloud edition counts one invoice as up to three pages, so a 20,000 invoice tier covers 60,000 pages.

Three things move the quote:

  • Annual volume. The IPY tier is the main price driver. Add-on packs of 50,000, 200,000 and 500,000 invoices a year are listed for customers who outgrow the base tier.
  • Deployment. Standalone, distributed (server) and cloud editions are separate SKUs with different components.
  • Edition and add-ons. Full FlexiCapture, with its layout and form design tools, is a different product from the invoice-only edition, and the SDK is licensed for developers.

FlexiCapture for Invoices license tiers

These are the SKUs resellers list publicly. Prices sit behind a reseller login or a quote form, so the table shows what each tier includes rather than a dollar figure.

You will find dollar figures for FlexiCapture on review and directory sites. None of them come from ABBYY's own price list, and they mix perpetual, subscription and SDK licenses, so we do not repeat them here. Ask for your quote in writing, broken out by the lines in the next section.

How much does ABBYY FlexiCapture cost per invoice?

Without a published price you cannot calculate it ahead of the quote, but you can set a ceiling. Divide the annual quote by the IPY tier, then add the costs in the next section. That gives your real cost per invoice.

Here is what the same volumes cost on a flat monthly plan with line items included, so you have a benchmark to hold the quote against. PayablesAgent counts pages, and the page allowances below are larger than the FlexiCapture page caps at each tier.

FlexiCapture tierMonthly equivalentPayablesAgent plan that covers itCost a yearCost per invoice
20,000 invoices / 60,000 pages a yearAbout 1,667 invoices and 5,000 pages a monthPlus, $149 a month, 10,000 pages, 3 seats$1,788About $0.09
100,000 invoices / 300,000 pages a yearAbout 8,333 invoices and 25,000 pages a monthPro, $499 a month, 35,000 pages, 5 seats, API$5,988About $0.06

If your FlexiCapture quote for the standalone tier, plus the server and staff time below, comes in above about $1,800 a year, a published plan is cheaper for the same invoices. At the distributed tier the line is about $6,000 a year. Above several hundred thousand invoices a year, or with complex non-invoice documents in the same pipeline, FlexiCapture's economics change and a quote makes more sense.

Costs outside the FlexiCapture license

The subscription fee is rarely the whole bill. Before you compare quotes, add these:

  • Servers and a database. The distributed edition ships an Application Server and a Processing Server. You host them, patch them and back them up, unless you buy the cloud edition.
  • Project setup. FlexiLayout Studio and FormDesigner are in the bundle because someone has to configure document definitions and export rules. That is a reseller services day rate or your own admin's time.
  • Verification staff. FlexiCapture is built around verification stations where operators check low-confidence fields. Budget the operator hours, not just the software.
  • ERP export. FlexiCapture for Invoices connects to any ERP through its export settings, but the mapping to QuickBooks, NetSuite or Sage Intacct is still a project.
  • Renewal. The subscription renews automatically each year. Ask what notice period applies and whether the price can rise at renewal.

Is ABBYY FlexiCapture worth it for accounts payable?

FlexiCapture is worth it when capture is a department, not a task. A shared service center scanning paper mail, running several verification operators in shifts, and pushing documents into an on-premises ERP will use what the distributed edition includes. So will a team that needs to process invoices alongside many other document types in one capture system, or that has to keep documents on its own servers.

It is usually more than you need if two or three people handle a few thousand vendor bills a month, the bills arrive as PDFs by email, and the books live in QuickBooks Online, NetSuite or Sage Intacct. In that case you are paying for servers, setup tools and operator stations that a browser-based tool does not need. If the documents beyond invoices are contracts, forms or other paperwork, an enterprise document extraction platform built for many document types may be a better replacement for the rest of FlexiCapture's workload than a second capture server.

ABBYY FlexiCapture alternatives with published prices

If the quote is too big, these are the options buyers usually compare. Every price comes from the vendor's own page.

Amazon Textract Analyze ExpenseDeveloper API$0.01 per page, first million pages a monthYes, in JSON

The cloud APIs are the cheapest per page, but they return JSON and need a developer to build the upload, review and export steps. Our AWS Textract pricing breakdown and Google Document AI pricing guide work those into cost per invoice. Rossum sits closer to FlexiCapture in scope and price; the Rossum alternative page covers it. Frequently asked questions

Is ABBYY FlexiCapture discontinued?

No. ABBYY still sells FlexiCapture on premises, as an SDK and in the cloud, and still markets FlexiCapture for Invoices for accounts payable. ABBYY promotes its newer Vantage platform alongside it, but its product pages list both. Ask your reseller about the roadmap if you are signing a multi-year term.

What is the difference between ABBYY FlexiCapture and ABBYY Vantage?

FlexiCapture is ABBYY's configurable capture platform, installed on your servers or deployed to the cloud, with layout and form design tools. Vantage is ABBYY's newer cloud platform built around pre-trained document skills. Both are quoted rather than priced publicly, so compare them on the quote and the deployment you want.

Does ABBYY FlexiCapture for Invoices extract line items?

Yes. Reseller listings for the standalone edition state header, footer and line item capture. Line items still need checking at the verification station when the table layout is unusual, so test your messiest vendors before you sign.

Can I buy ABBYY FlexiCapture online?

Not at a listed price. ABBYY's own site asks you to schedule a demo, and resellers show the SKUs but hide prices behind a login or quote request. Expect a sales process before you see a number.

Check your invoices before the ABBYY call

The quickest way to know whether you need a capture platform is to run a real batch through a capture tool. Upload 20 recent vendor invoices, including scans and long multi-page bills, and check the line item extraction against the originals. If they come back clean, export them to Excel, CSV or QuickBooks Online and see how far that gets you. Plan limits are on the pricing page, and the accounts payable OCR software page explains what the product does and does not cover, so the FlexiCapture quote has something concrete to beat.
