Docsumo does not publish a price. Its pricing page lists a free trial of 14 days with up to 1,000 pages and 10 user licenses, then two paid plans, Business and Enterprise, both sold on a custom quote based on your page volume. The quote also moves with how complex your workflow is, whether you pay monthly or annually, and a separate one-time setup fee that depends on your documents.
That is what Docsumo's own pricing page says, checked on September 29, 2026. Below we go through what each plan includes, how a Docsumo quote is built, how to turn it into a cost per page you can compare, and when a tool with a published price is the cheaper way to get invoice data out of PDFs.
Docsumo plans and what each includes
| Plan | Price | Users | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 for 14 days, up to 1,000 pages | 10 licenses | Pre-trained models, field and table extraction, AI reviewer, webhooks, API, Excel downloads |
| Business | Custom quote based on volume, monthly or annual | Unlimited | Auto-classification, custom pipelines, permission controls, test environment, audit logging, dedicated account support |
| Enterprise | Custom quote based on volume, monthly or annual | Unlimited | Automated workflows, case management, cross-document validations, real-time analytics, master data lookup |
The trial is generous for testing. A thousand pages is enough to run a full month of invoices for a small AP team, and the API and Excel export are switched on from the start. What the trial does not tell you is what the same volume will cost once it ends.
How Docsumo pricing works
Docsumo names three things that set the price of a paid plan:
- The pages you process, counted over a month or a year.
- Workflow complexity: classification, validation rules and checks that compare one document against another all push the rate up.
- How often you pay: annual plans get a lower rate, and multi-year deals get a further discount.
Two billing details matter more than they look. On an annual plan you get the full year of credit up front and can use it at any time, which suits seasonal volume. On a monthly plan, credits reset each month, so pages you do not use are gone. And setup fees are charged separately, based on how complex your documents are to process. Ask for that fee in writing, because it is not part of the per-page rate.
How much does Docsumo cost per page?
There is no public per-page rate. Software directories print figures for Docsumo, but Docsumo does not confirm any of them on its own site, so do not budget from them. The only reliable number is the one on your quote. To compare it with anything else, convert it into three figures:
- Cost per page: the plan price divided by the pages it includes.
- Cost per invoice: cost per page times your average pages per invoice. Most vendor invoices are one or two pages; statements and long freight bills run longer.
- First-year cost: twelve months of the plan plus the setup fee.
Here is what the same job costs on tools that do publish their prices, so you have a benchmark before the Docsumo call. All figures come from each vendor's own pricing page.
| Tool | Published price | Rough cost per invoice page | Users |
|---|---|---|---|
| Docsumo | Quote only, plus setup fee | Unknown until quoted | Unlimited on paid plans |
| Google Document AI Invoice Parser | $0.10 per document of up to 10 pages | $0.10 per document, developer build required | Your own app |
| Nanonets | $100 a month for 100 credits, then quoted | About $0.32 to $1.80 per invoice at 4 to 6 block runs | Up to 3 on Starter |
| Parseur | $129 a month for 1,000 pages, $499 for 10,000 | $0.05 to $0.13 | 1 below 10,000 pages |
| PayablesAgent | $49 a month for 2,500 pages, $149 for 10,000 | About $0.015 to $0.02 | 1 on Starter, 3 on Plus |
If your Docsumo quote lands well above a few cents a page for plain vendor invoices, you are paying for the workflow layer, not the extraction. That can be worth it. It depends on whether you need the extras.
Is there a free version of Docsumo?
No permanent free plan is listed. Docsumo offers a 14-day free trial with up to 1,000 pages and 10 user licenses, which includes the pre-trained models, table extraction, the API and Excel downloads. After 14 days you move to a quoted Business or Enterprise plan to keep processing documents.
Does Docsumo charge per user?
No. Both paid plans list unlimited user licenses, so a large review team does not raise the price. Docsumo charges on pages, workflow complexity and billing term instead. That is an advantage over per-seat AP tools such as BILL, and it is why Docsumo tends to fit teams where many people review extracted documents.
When Docsumo is worth the quote
Docsumo is a document AI platform, not just an invoice reader, and a few kinds of buyer get real value from what the quote pays for:
- Lenders and insurers processing bank statements, pay stubs, tax forms and applications together, where auto-classification sorts a mixed upload into document types.
- Teams that check one document against another, for example a statement against an application, which is what cross-document validation on Enterprise is for.
- Operations groups that need case management, where a file of documents moves through review as one unit.
- Companies with strict audit needs, where audit logging and a separate test environment on Business are required by IT.
If that sounds like your team, get the quote and use the table above to judge it.
When a published price is the cheaper buy
Most US accounts payable teams shopping Docsumo want one thing: vendor, invoice number, dates, tax, totals and every line item out of the PDF and into QuickBooks, NetSuite or a spreadsheet. For that job, a quoted platform with setup fees is more than you need.
PayablesAgent reads invoices and receipts to the line item and exports Excel and CSV on every plan, QuickBooks Online files on Plus, and JSON through the API on Pro. Starter is $49 a month for 2,500 pages, Plus is $149 a month for 10,000 pages and three seats, and there is no setup fee and no sales call. You can check it on your own invoices with the upload tool at the top of this page before you pay anything. Our Docsumo alternative comparison goes feature by feature, and invoice line item extraction shows what the output looks like.
A mixed setup also works. If most of your volume is invoices and a small part is contracts or web data, keep a capture plan for the invoices and handle the rest separately. For supplier price lists or catalog data that sits on vendor websites rather than in PDFs, a web scraping API that returns clean structured data is a better fit than any document tool.
Questions to ask Docsumo before you sign
- What is the per-page rate at my monthly volume, and what happens if I go over it?
- What is the one-time setup fee, and what exactly does it cover?
- On a monthly plan, do unused credits reset, and can I switch to annual mid-term?
- Which features in the quote are Business and which are Enterprise?
- Is line-item table extraction priced the same as header fields?
- What is the minimum term, and what is the notice period to cancel?
Put the answers next to the benchmark table and you will know within a minute whether the quote is for extraction or for a platform. Is Docsumo worth it?
Docsumo is worth it for lenders, insurers and operations teams that need classification, cross-document checks and unlimited reviewers on a mix of document types. For an AP team that only needs invoice data in its ledger, a published plan is usually cheaper and faster to start, because there is no setup fee, no quote cycle and the price per page is known on day one.
