Stampli vs Ramp comes down to what you are buying. Ramp is a corporate card company whose Bill Pay starts free, with a Plus tier at $15 per user per month plus a platform fee, and publishes every payment fee. Stampli is a dedicated accounts payable platform with no public price and no trial: you get a quote after a demo, and procurement, payments and cards are sold as add-on modules around its invoice workflow.
Pick Ramp if you want cards, expenses and bill pay in one place, you run on QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite or Sage Intacct, and you would rather start free than sit through a sales cycle. Pick Stampli if invoices are the main event, several entities and approvers comment on every bill, and you want a customer success manager running the rollout on an ERP like Dynamics, Sage 100 or SAP. Every price and feature below comes from ramp.com/pricing, ramp.com/bill-pay and stampli.com/pricing, checked on October 23, 2026.

How much does Ramp cost compared to Stampli?
Ramp costs $0 on its Free plan and $15 per user per month on Plus, plus a platform fee that Ramp sizes to your team and does not print. Stampli publishes no price at all. A five person finance team on Ramp Plus pays $75 a month in seat fees before the platform fee, or $60 a month in seat fees billed annually.
Stampli's quote is built around the AP package and the modules you add. The base package already includes unlimited entities, locations and vendors, invoice capture, matching, 12 prebuilt reports and a customer success manager, so the number on the quote tends to reflect how much of the procure to pay suite you take, not how many people log in. If you want a sense of where Stampli quotes land and what drives them, our Stampli pricing breakdown goes through it line by line.
Ramp Bill Pay fees
Ramp lists every payment fee on its Bill Pay page, which Stampli does not do for Direct Pay. These apply when you pay from an outside bank account:
| Payment method | Ramp fee | Waived from a Ramp Checking Account |
|---|---|---|
| Standard ACH | $0.59 | Yes |
| Same-day ACH | $10 | Yes |
| Standard check | $1.99 | Yes |
| Domestic wire | $15 | Yes |
| International wire, SWIFT in USD | $20 | Yes |
| Overnight check delivery | $20 | No |
| Check attachments | $1 per page | No |
The math is simple at small business volume. Paying 200 vendor bills a month by standard ACH from your existing bank costs $118 in Ramp fees; paying the same bills from a Ramp Checking Account costs nothing. Thirty paper checks from an outside account add $59.70. 1099 filing is $0.65 per IRS filing.
Is Stampli better than Ramp for accounts payable?
For invoice-heavy AP with many entities and approvers, yes, Stampli is the more complete AP tool. Its base package is built around the invoice: capture, coding, 2 and 3 way matching, and a conversation thread on each bill where approvers and AP sort out questions in place. Ramp's AP is strong for a card company and costs far less to start, but its line-item auto-coding needs Plus and PO matching needs the procurement add-on.
Stampli also reaches further into mid-market ERPs. Dynamics GP, Sage 100, SAP ECC, Acumatica and Dealertrack appear on Stampli's integration list and not on Ramp's pricing page. If your books live in one of those, that alone may settle it.
When Ramp is the better pick
Ramp wins when spend control is the bigger problem than invoice volume. Teams that want corporate cards with receipt matching, reimbursements and vendor bills in one ledger get all of it on the Free plan, connected to QuickBooks Online or Xero, with no sales call. Growing companies on NetSuite or Sage Intacct move to Plus for batch payments, payment release approvals and auto-coded lines.
Ramp also suits a finance lead who wants to try before committing. Stampli's pricing page offers only a quote request, so the evaluation starts with a demo and a proposal. If you run cards on Ramp, pair them with real-time alerts when card spend crosses a budget so department heads hear about overruns the day they happen rather than at close.
When Stampli is the better pick
- Multiple entities or locations. Unlimited entities and vendors sit in Stampli's base package, which is where multi-location companies in construction, healthcare and auto dealerships tend to need it.
- Approvers who need context. Stampli keeps the discussion on the invoice itself, so a project manager can answer a coding question without a separate email chain.
- A legacy or mid-market ERP. GP, Sage 100, SAP or Acumatica users will find a named connector.
- You want hands-on onboarding. A dedicated customer success manager and team training come with the AP package.
What both leave you paying for
Both products bundle invoice capture with a payments and approvals platform. That is the right buy if you need the whole platform. Many small US finance teams do not. Their bank and QuickBooks already handle payments, and the actual pain is a clerk typing vendor, invoice number, due date and twenty line items into each bill.
That job alone does not need an AP suite. PayablesAgent reads invoices and receipts, extracts header fields and every line item, puts them on a review screen and exports to Excel, CSV or QuickBooks Online. It costs $49 a month for 2,500 pages on one seat or $149 a month for 10,000 pages with three seats, flat, not per user. You can import bills into QuickBooks Online straight from the extracted data and keep paying vendors the way you do today.
Use it on its own, or next to Ramp Free when the free OCR reads the header but you need lines coded without upgrading every approver to Plus.
Stampli vs Ramp for QuickBooks users
Both connect to QuickBooks Online. Ramp includes it on the Free plan along with Xero. Stampli supports both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, which matters for firms still on Desktop, since Ramp's pricing page does not list Desktop. A QuickBooks small business that pays fewer than a few hundred bills a month usually lands on Ramp Free or a capture tool rather than a quoted platform. For a wider view of options at that size, see our guide to accounts payable software for small business.
Frequently asked questions
Is Ramp free for accounts payable?
Yes. Ramp's Free plan includes Bill Pay with AI invoice extraction, configurable approvals, fraud checks and payment by ACH, card, check and wire, synced to QuickBooks Online or Xero, at $0 per user. Payment fees apply when you pay from an outside bank account, and most are waived from a Ramp Checking Account.
Does Stampli have a free trial?
No trial is offered on Stampli's pricing page. The page asks you to request a quote, and evaluation runs through a demo with Stampli's sales team. If a hands-on test matters to you, Ramp's Free plan or a self-serve invoice capture tool lets you try on real bills first.
What are the best Stampli alternatives?
Ramp, BILL, Tipalti, Yooz and AvidXchange are the usual names on a Stampli shortlist, each with a different pricing model. If invoice data entry is the only problem, a capture tool such as PayablesAgent is cheaper than any of them. We compare them in detail on our Stampli alternative page, and Yooz specifically in Yooz vs Stampli.
Is Ramp or BILL better for small businesses?
Ramp is cheaper to start because Bill Pay is free, while BILL charges per user from $49 a month on Essentials. BILL has a longer AP track record and more payment options for vendors. We put the two side by side, with fees, in Ramp vs Bill.com.
The bottom line
Choose Ramp for a free, card-first platform with published fees and fast self-serve setup on QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite or Sage Intacct. Choose Stampli for a quoted, invoice-first AP platform with unlimited entities, matching in the base package and a customer success manager. If neither platform is what you need and the real cost is manual entry, try PayablesAgent on your own invoices with the uploader on this page and see the line items come back before you buy anything.
