AvidXchange Competitors and AvidXchange Pricing With an Alternative for Invoice Capture

AvidXchange is a full AP and payments platform sold by quote, built for mid-market real estate, construction and community association teams. If your team mostly needs invoices turned into clean data (vendor, invoice number, dates, tax, totals and line items) for QuickBooks Online, Excel or your ERP import, PayablesAgent does that job for a published $49 a month.

AvidXchange details on this page come from AvidXchange's own website and its acquisition announcement.

The short answer

AvidXchange does not publish a price. You get a custom quote after a demo, based on invoice volume, the modules you buy and how your suppliers get paid. The best AvidXchange alternative depends on the job: BILL or Melio for simpler published-price bill pay, Stampli or MineralTree for approval-heavy AP, Tipalti for global payouts. If the part you actually need is invoice data capture, a flat-rate extraction tool costs a fraction of a platform contract and you can keep paying vendors from your bank.

How AvidXchange pricing works

There is no pricing page. AvidXchange sells through a sales team, and the price comes back as a proposal after a demo. The inputs that move the number are the ones you would expect from a platform that handles both invoices and payments: how many invoices you process a month, which products you take (invoice automation, payment automation, purchase order automation, or AP as a Service where their team does the processing), and which accounting system you need connected.

You will find dollar figures for AvidXchange on software review directories. None of them come from AvidXchange, and they disagree with each other, so treat them as rumor. The only number worth budgeting on is the one in your written quote.

One thing is structural and worth understanding before the call. When AvidXchange was a public company, most of its reported revenue came from payment transactions rather than software subscriptions. Its AvidPay Network, which it describes as serving over 1.5 million suppliers, pays vendors by virtual card, AvidPay Direct deposit or mailed check. That model is why AvidXchange cares a lot about how your suppliers are paid, and it is why a capture-only buyer can end up in a conversation about payments they did not come for.

Ownership changed too. TPG and Corpay completed their acquisition on October 15, 2025, at $10.00 per share, taking AvidXchange private at about $2.2 billion. Nothing about that stops the product working. It does mean renewal terms are worth reading closely, which is standard advice for any vendor after a private equity deal.

What to get in writing on an AvidXchange quote

A quote you can compare line by line against a published price. Ask for each of these before you sign.

Subscription and volume tier

The monthly or annual fee, the invoice volume it covers, and the exact charge when you go over it in a busy month.

Implementation and onboarding

Whether setup, ERP connection and supplier enrollment are included or billed as a one-time fee, and how long go-live takes.

Payment fees

What you pay per check or ACH, and whether any supplier is charged to receive payment through AvidPay Direct. Your vendors will ask.

Modules

Which of invoice, payment and PO automation are in the price, and which are quoted as add-ons later.

Contract length and renewal

Minimum term, auto-renewal notice period, and a cap on the renewal increase.

Exit and data export

How you get your invoice images and extracted data out if you leave, and in what format.

When AvidXchange is the better buy

AvidXchange has spent over 25 years on mid-market AP in a handful of industries. If this sounds like you, a capture tool will not replace it.

You run AP on Yardi, MRI or Rent Manager

Property management and community association accounting systems are where AvidXchange is strongest. Few competitors connect to them as deeply.

You want payments out of the building

If the goal is to stop printing and mailing checks entirely, a payment network that enrolls your suppliers does work no extraction tool does.

You want AP handled for you

AP as a Service puts AvidXchange's people on the processing. That is a staffing decision as much as a software one.

Multi-step approvals across properties or jobs

Routing each invoice to the right property manager or project manager is the platform's home ground. For construction and property teams, vendor insurance is the next gap, and certificate of insurance tracking software keeps subcontractor COIs current before you release payment.

Published-price AP

BILL

Self-serve plans with fees you can read before a call, priced per user. Plans and fees are in our Bill.com alternative comparison, and the head-to-head AvidXchange vs Bill.com post works out monthly totals.

Approval-heavy AP

Stampli

Invoice-centric collaboration, unlimited entities and broad ERP coverage, also sold by quote. See the Stampli alternative breakdown.

Global payouts

Tipalti

For paying suppliers in many countries with tax form collection, from $99 a month plus transaction fees. See the Tipalti alternative comparison. Routable plays the same payouts role at $1,250 a month on Growth, with invoice OCR only on its quoted Scale plan; our Routable pricing breakdown has the detail.

Small business bill pay

Melio

Published plans from $0 to $80 a month and cheap ACH, for businesses too small for a quoted platform. See the Melio alternative page.

Mid-market AP and payments

MineralTree and Medius

The most direct like-for-like rivals, both quote-based. Put all three in the same bake-off with the same invoice sample and the same fee questions.

Invoice capture only

PayablesAgent

Reads invoices, bills and receipts and returns vendor, invoice number, dates, tax, totals and line items as Excel, CSV, JSON or QuickBooks Online data. Flat monthly pricing, no per-invoice fee, no sales call.

Who gets more from invoice capture than from AvidXchange

Property managers who pay from the bank

If owners' money already moves through your bank's ACH, you need the utility, repair and landscaping bills keyed, not a new payment rail. See invoice processing for property managers.

Contractors job costing from supplier invoices

Material invoices with dozens of lines need every line in a sheet you can code to a job. See invoice OCR for construction companies.

Teams too small for a platform contract

A few hundred invoices a month rarely justifies implementation and a multi-year term. Page-based pricing scales with the month you actually had.

Nonprofits on fund accounting

Grant-coded bills need clean fields before they reach the ledger. See invoice OCR for nonprofits.

Backlogs and cleanups

A quarter of unposted bills before an audit is a batch job. See bulk invoice processing software.

QuickBooks users posting bills directly

Extract the bill, review it and push it to QuickBooks Online on the Plus plan. See invoice OCR for QuickBooks.

How to decide before the second sales call

  1. 1

Write down which problem you are buying for

Keying invoices, chasing approvals, or cutting checks. Each points to a different product, and only the first is solved by capture alone.

  2. 2

    Get the AvidXchange quote itemized

Use the checklist above. Convert everything to a cost per month for your actual invoice count.

  3. 3

Run 20 real invoices through the tool above

Include a scanned utility bill, a long material invoice and the vendor whose layout always breaks. Check vendor, invoice number, dates, tax, total and lines against the originals.

  4. 4

    Compare the two monthly numbers

If capture was the reason you took the demo, a $49 or $149 plan usually settles it. If payments and approvals were, the platform quote is the fair comparison.

Questions buyers ask about AvidXchange

How much does AvidXchange cost?

AvidXchange does not publish prices. Every customer gets a custom quote after a demo, shaped by invoice volume, the modules you take and how you pay suppliers. Figures on review directories are estimates AvidXchange does not confirm, so ask for a written quote with every fee listed before you compare it with anything.

Who are AvidXchange's competitors?

The closest AP platform competitors are BILL, Stampli, Tipalti, MineralTree and Medius, with Ramp overlapping on bill pay. For teams whose real problem is keying invoice data, capture tools such as Dext, Hubdoc and PayablesAgent compete with AvidXchange's invoice automation on its own. See our Dext alternative comparison for that group.

Is AvidXchange still a public company?

No. TPG and Corpay completed their acquisition on October 15, 2025, at $10.00 per share, taking AvidXchange private at about $2.2 billion. TPG holds the majority and Corpay a minority stake. The product keeps running, but confirm contract terms and renewal pricing in writing.

Does AvidXchange integrate with QuickBooks?

Yes. AvidXchange lists QuickBooks among more than 200 accounting and ERP integrations, alongside NetSuite, Microsoft, Sage, Acumatica, Blackbaud, MIP Fund Accounting, MRI, Rent Manager and Yardi. The depth of each connection varies, so test your own system during the demo.

Is there a cheaper alternative to AvidXchange?

For invoice capture, yes. PayablesAgent costs $49 a month for 2,500 Base pages and 500 Pro pages, or $149 a month for 10,000 Base pages with QuickBooks Online export and three seats, with line items on every plan. It does not pay vendors, so compare it with AvidXchange's invoice module, not the whole platform.
