For AP teams holding a Coupa proposal
Coupa Alternative and Coupa Competitors for AP Invoice Capture
Coupa's own marketplace listing starts at $50,000 a year on a three or five year term. That buys a whole spend management suite. If what your AP team needs is vendor invoices read into NetSuite, Sage Intacct or QuickBooks, PayablesAgent does that part for $149 a month, billed monthly.
Coupa figures come from Coupa's AWS Marketplace listing and Coupa supplier documentation, checked October 1, 2026.

The short answer
Coupa is a total spend management suite: procurement, invoicing, expenses, payments and supplier management on one platform, sold on multi-year contracts that its AWS listing prices from $50k a year. The right Coupa alternative depends on which piece you need. For full procurement, look at SAP Ariba or Ivalua. For accounts payable, Stampli, Tipalti or BILL. If you only need invoices captured and coded into the ERP you already approve and pay from, a capture tool at $149 to $499 a month does the job.
How much Coupa costs over a 36-month term
Coupa does not publish a price list on its website. It does publish one on AWS Marketplace, where buyers can contract through their AWS account. That listing says pricing starts at $50k, billed annually, for 3 or 5 year terms, and shows the 36-month contract at $150,000.
Put three years of a monthly invoice capture plan next to it and the gap is obvious. The two products do different jobs, which is the point: you only pay suite money if you need the suite.
36 months, list prices
Pro is $499 a month times 36. Plus is $149 a month times 36. Both are billed monthly and cancellable any month. Coupa's figure is the starting point of its listing, before AWS infrastructure costs the listing says may apply.
What you are buying when you buy Coupa
Coupa calls itself a total spend management platform. The AWS listing describes source-to-pay, AP automation, procurement automation, supplier management, invoice processing and spend visibility. In practice that means four groups of modules, and most mid-market teams only feel pain in one of them.
Procurement
Requisitions, catalogs, approvals and purchase orders before any money is committed.
Invoicing and AP
Invoice capture, PO matching, approvals and the hand-off to payment.
Supplier network
The Coupa Supplier Portal, free for suppliers, where vendors receive POs and submit invoices.
Expenses and spend analytics
Employee expenses, cards and reporting across every category of spend.
If your purchasing already runs through POs in NetSuite or Sage Intacct and your vendors email PDFs, the procurement half of that contract does little for you. The cost you are trying to remove sits in one box: someone keys every invoice line by hand. That box is what we sell.
The invoice capture part, without the suite
Upload or forward vendor invoices. PayablesAgent returns vendor, invoice number, PO number, dates, terms, tax, totals and every line item as rows you can check against the original page.
Excel and CSV come with every plan. Plus adds QuickBooks Online export and three seats. Pro adds the API, so your team can push results into NetSuite, Sage Intacct or any ERP import you already run, and up to five seats.
- ✓Scanned, faxed and photographed invoices, not only clean PDFs
- ✓Line items on every plan, no add-on
- ✓Monthly billing, no implementation project

When Coupa is the right buy
An invoice capture tool will not replace Coupa in these situations. If one of them is yours, keep Coupa on the list and negotiate the term.
Spend control before the invoice
If the problem is people buying outside policy, you need requisitions, catalogs and approval before a PO goes out. That is procurement software, and Coupa is built around it.
Thousands of suppliers on a portal
When suppliers submit PO confirmations and invoices through a portal, there is nothing left to scan. A large supplier network is where Coupa earns its fee.
Many entities, one spend view
Global groups that need spend analytics across entities and currencies get value from one suite. A capture tool reads documents; it does not consolidate spend.
Coupa alternative for mid-market finance teams
The best Coupa alternative for a mid-market company is usually not another suite. It is the ERP you already pay for plus a capture tool that reads vendor invoices into it. NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Dynamics already handle POs, approvals and three-way match; what they lack is a clerk who never has to type a bill.
At Coupa's published floor of $50,000 a year, a 36-month term is $150,000. PayablesAgent Pro, with 35,000 pages a month, 5 seats and the API, is $499 a month, or $17,964 over the same 36 months, billed monthly with no term.
Mid-market fit check
- POs and approvals already live in NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics or QuickBooks
- One to a few entities, mostly US vendors paid by ACH or check from the bank
- The AP bottleneck is keying invoices and line items, not off-policy purchasing
- No appetite for a three or five year commitment
If most of these are true, capture plus your ERP covers the job. If off-policy spend is the real problem, look at Procurify pricing and alternatives instead.

Stampli competitors · Tipalti alternative · Bill.com competitors
Invoice capture only
PayablesAgent, Rossum, Nanonets

How to test a Coupa alternative before you sign
Count how many invoices a month arrive as PDF or paper, not through a supplier portal. That is your capture volume.
Upload 20 of them in the tool at the top of this page, including long freight and parts invoices.
Export to CSV and run it through the vendor bill import your ERP already has.
Put 36 months of $149 or $499 next to the Coupa proposal and decide which modules you actually need.
Questions buyers ask about Coupa
How much does Coupa cost?
Coupa does not publish a price list on its site. Its own AWS Marketplace listing says pricing starts at $50k, billed annually, for 3 or 5 year terms, and shows a 36-month contract at $150,000. The quote you get depends on modules, users and transaction volume, so ask for it per year with implementation shown as its own line.
What is the alternative to Coupa?
It depends on the job. SAP Ariba, Ivalua and Jaggaer replace the full procurement suite. Procurify and Precoro cover purchasing for mid-market teams. Stampli, Tipalti and BILL cover accounts payable. If you only need vendor invoices read into your ledger, a capture tool like PayablesAgent costs $49 to $499 a month.
Who are Coupa's competitors?
Coupa's main suite competitors are SAP Ariba, Ivalua, Jaggaer and Oracle procurement. In mid-market purchasing it meets Procurify, Precoro and Zip. In accounts payable it competes with Stampli, Tipalti, BILL and AvidXchange, and in invoice capture with Rossum, Nanonets and PayablesAgent.
Is Coupa free for suppliers?
Yes. The Coupa Supplier Portal is free for suppliers to join and use for purchase orders, invoices and payment status with customers that run Coupa. Coupa sells an optional paid supplier subscription, but suppliers do not need it to transact. The buyer pays for the platform.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Coupa for invoice processing?
Yes, if approvals and payments already run in your ERP. PayablesAgent reads vendor invoices to the line item for $149 a month (10,000 pages, 3 seats, QuickBooks Online export) or $499 a month with API access for NetSuite or Sage Intacct imports, billed monthly with no multi-year term.
